From ₦0 to First ₦10k: How I Started With Small Capital in Nigeria

I started with ₦0. Not ₦5k. Not ₦1k. Zero.

It was 2021. Car wash was slow. Loan app was disturbing me. My pocket was empty.

I told myself: If I don’t do something this week, I’ll borrow again.

That week I made my first ₦10,000. Without capital.

Here’s exactly how I did it.

Step 1: Sell Your Skill, Not Product

I had no money to buy anything to sell. But I had 2 hands and time.

I went to 3 neighbors and said: "Baba, let me wash your car for ₦1,500. Pay me after."

First day: 2 cars = ₦3,000.

No soap? I used their own soap + water. No machine? Bucket + sponge.

Lesson: When you have ₦0, sell service. Time is your capital.

Step 2: Reinvest 100% of First ₦5,000

I didn’t eat the money. I didn’t flex.

From the ₦3,000, I added ₦2,000 I borrowed from my guy. Total ₦5,000.

I bought 1 small Jerry can of foam soap ₦2,500, 2 sponges ₦500, and saved ₦2,000 for transport.

Next week: I washed 8 cars = ₦12,000.

Minus ₦2,000 cost = ₦10,000 profit.

Lesson: Your first profit is not for enjoyment. It’s for tools. Reinvest.

Step 3: Ask + Deliver + Ask Again

I didn’t advertise on Facebook. No money for ads.

I just delivered well, then asked: xxx in xxx"Baba, do you have friend that needs car wash? Tell him I’ll come to his house."

Referrals brought 3 more customers. Free.

Lesson: Good work + asking is the best ₦0 marketing in Nigeria.

My Personal Story

That first ₦10,000 didn’t change my life. But it changed my mind.

It proved to me that "no capital" is not an excuse.

Today that ₦10k has grown to car wash, blog, and other things.

But it all started with bucket, sponge, and mouth to ask.

If you’re waiting for "big capital" before you start, stop.

Start with what you have. Start dirty. Start small.

Final Word

₦0 → Skill → ₦5k tools → ₦10k profit.

That’s the formula.
