| Saving small as a hustler in Ibadan |
My name is Oluwamuyiwa and I wash cars in Dugbe, Ibadan. Some days I make ₦5,000. Some days rain chases customers away and I make ₦0. If you’re like me — young, hustling, and tired of "money no dey" — this post is for you. This is how I’m learning to manage money on irregular income in Ibadan 2026.
1. Separate Your Money Immediately
The moment customer pays me, I put it in 3 places:
• Car Wash Money: For soap, water, transport. This one no be my money.
• House Money: For food, light, rent.
• Save Money: Even if it’s ₦200. I hide it. That ₦200 saved me when my charger spoiled.
2. Pay "Tools First" Before Anything
In Ibadan, NEPA and bad charger can waste your money. That’s why I bought ₦3,500 voltage guard before new charger.
Lesson: If your tool is broken, you can’t work. So buy tools first.
3. Save Small, Save Daily
Don’t wait for ₦10,000. Save ₦200 or ₦500 daily. In 30 days that’s ₦6,000 - ₦15,000. Use a piggy bank or hide it. Banks are fine, but discipline is better.
4. Avoid "Emergency" That Are Not Emergency
New clothes, data subscription, club... these can wait. Real emergency is when you’re sick or tool spoils.
Conclusion
Hustling in Ibadan is not easy, but it’s possible. Manage small money well, and big money will find you. God bless our hustle.
